Herzl's Nightmare

One Land, Two Peoples

Peter Rodgers
March 2005     ISBN: 156025694X

This important new study by acclaimed journalist Peter Rodgers shows how little the dynamics of the Israel-Palestine conflict have actually changed. For Rodgers, today's antagonisms and falsehoods are eerily reminiscent of yesteryear's. In lucid prose, he explains how much the present self-righteous intransigence on both sides owes to what went before.

In this timely book, Rodgers draws from his experience as a former ambassador to Israel to offer an illuminating narrative of the ongoing conflict. This book is a challenge to those who would contrive too-easy solutions to a deeply complex problem. It conveys the tragedy of a conflict in which the recurring themes are those of lies and hypocrisy, demonizing enmity and a stubborn refusal to acknowledge the other's history and perspective.
